CLIMATE

While exploring dirty attics and moldy basements is a blast... we are actually in this business to save the planet!

We want to save you money, make your home comfortable, and help stop global warming.

Conservation

Energy conservation is the best way to reduce our impact on the climate. In Maine, getting an energy audit and making the recommended changes is the single most effective way to do your part. If every building's energy use decreased, it would make a huge dent globally.

The first step in “Acting on Climate” is using less. Think about driving… just buying a Prius doesn’t do the trick. Buying a fuel efficient vehicle AND driving less is the only way to reduce your car’s carbon footprint.

Buildings use much more energy than vehicles, so think about your carbon footprint in the home. Whether you are burning oil, wood, or using a heat pump… if your building is not air sealed, you are letting your warmed air seep out endlessly! It’s like millions of little carbon footprints running out your door! An energy efficient house is not just one that utilizes greener energy sources, it is one that requires LESS energy to stay warm and toasty in the winter, and cool in the summer.

It’s a health issue too!

Proper ventilation is essential and excess moisture results in moldy buildings. If your home is too tight, you may have a moisture problem. If your home is leaking air out, it is likely to be leaking water in as well, with innumerable ramifications! We clean it up and dry it up. This has an immediate impact on the health and wellbeing of the building’s inhabitants. We improve air quality, which helps asthmatic people and those who simply couldn't kick that head cold.
